From The Desk of Dr.W. Ruth Whitney

The summer has been filled with a lot of travel for the Whitney’s’.  Some pleasure and some mission.  First week in June was Hampton Ministries and Choir Directors Conference.  Then to the Congress of Christian Education Conference in Louisville Kentucky.  More enjoyable work Dr. Whitney and I are Directors of the marriage and Family Department in the National Baptist Convention.  Pastor Whitney then came back to New York and I went on to Cincinnati Ohio where I serve as Assistance Dean of the International Association of Ministers Wives and Ministers Widows.  We will be hosting the convention in 2009 in New York (Buffalo, New York) 10,000 women strong.

 In July we came back to New York and off to San Juan Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Island on a wonderful cruise.  After one wonderful week of R&R (Rest and Relaxation) in Dominica, Barbados, St. Kitts, and St. Thomas we came back to the states and left for a week in Parris France before going to WiesisbadenGermany for a week of missionary work with the National Baptist Convention of Germany.  This was a much needed week of Ministry with many fellow Christians who are doing a wonderful soul winning job where there is very little money to do ministry.  We did work shop on several topics.  Dr. Whitney taught on a subject that asked for: “The Purpose of Preaching”.  Other topics were:
